About Yacht-Master

Rolex Yacht-Master - The sports watch for the stars

The Rolex Yacht-Master is a luxury sports watch made by Swiss watch manufacturer Rolex which was first introduced in 1992. A lady's model of the Yacht-Master was released two years later in 1994, and the timepiece soon became a regular at the regattas of the most sophisticated of society. The design of the Yacht-Master was inspired by another sea-faring watch by Rolex, the Submariner. The Yacht-Master is fully waterproof in its classic Rolex Oyster Case, making it the perfect companion for any boat trip. Be regatta-ready with the Rolex Yacht-Master.

The first Yacht-Master was unveiled in 1992 by Rolex - a beautiful sports watch made from 18kr yellow gold. The original Yacht-Master with the reference number 69628 was designed specifically for the Asian market, as Rolex had recently gained traction in Asia as the luxury watch of choice. The initial line featured a men's model, a lady's model, and a mid-sized man's model - the latter being a first in Rolex's long history. The Yacht-Master proved to be an incredibly popular model around the world, especially with those who sail as a hobby.

The Yacht-Master was discontinued in 2010, where the new and improved Yacht-Master II model replaced the original range of sports watches. The Rolex Yacht-Master 4161 utilizes the Rolex chronograph movement which has a programmable timer that counts down ten minutes. This feature was primarily designed for those who frequented regattas where the starting sequence lasts up to 10-minutes. The movement took four years to develop and has a 72-hour power reserve for when the watch is not in use.

The Yacht-Master II is almost identical to the original Yacht-Master in terms of design, with some small changes. The Yacht-Master comes in a variety of precious and semi-precious metals, with all models having a case diameter of 44mm. The bracelet on all models has an oyster-clasp with three-element links. The Yacht-Master also utilizes a platinum dial, which is a unique feature to the boating watch. The superior craftsmanship and elegant design of the Rolex Yacht-Master and Rolex Yacht-Master II is the reason that the sports watch line has become a staple accessory on the sailing circuit. Be regatta-ready with the Rolex Yacht-Master.
