About Kamen Rider Gaim

Kamen Rider Gaim - Street dancers of a monopolized economy battle interdimensional monsters

Kamen Rider Gaim is a special effects drama (also known as "tokusatsu," the name of the genre in Japanese) in Toei's Kamen Rider Series. It is the 15th series in the show's Heisei period run and the 24th series overall. Kamen Rider Gaim is set in the troubled town of Zawame, where civilians are not only oppressed by the big business of the Yggdrasill Corporation, but also in danger of being attacked by Inves monsters from an alternate dimension called Helheim Forest. Luckily, protagonist Kota Kazuraba finds the Sengoku Driver, which allows him to transform into Armored Rider Gaim. Gaim is then tasked with holding his own against other Armored Riders and saving his city from the invading Inves. Thus, Kamen Rider Gaim sets the stage for a Sengoku period-like conflict where only one victor will prevail for the right to possess the power of the proverbial forbidden fruit, Helheim Forest.

In Kamen Rider Gaim, the economy-dominating Yggdrasill Corporation has come to Zawame City and drained the spirit from a once bustling metropolis. To escape the feeling of oppression brought by Yggdrasill's monopoly, many of the youth in Zawame form dance crews called Beat Riders to bring joy back into the community. Also rising in popularity is the Inves Game, which uses strange devices known as Lockseeds to summon the interdimensional Inves monsters. As the simulator game spreads across Zawame City, the very seams of reality begin to burst, opening portals that allow Inves to travel from their home dimension to Earth.

Meanwhile, Team Gaim dance group member Kota Kazuraba tries to find his place in the world while feeling torn between loyalty to his teammates and his sister Akira's insistence that he start acting like an adult by finding a proper job. Around the time that Team Gaim's captain mysteriously disappears, Kota discovers that Lockseeds and Inves are entities from an alternate dimension called Helheim Forest. During an encounter with a mysterious girl resembling his Team Gaim teammate, Mai Takatsukasa, Kota uses a Sengoku Driver belt and the Orange Lockseed to become a samurai-armored warrior named Armored Rider Gaim.

Kamen Rider Gaim premiered on TV Asahi and affiliate stations throughout Japan in October 2013 during the week following its preceding series, Kamen Rider Wizard. After Kamen Rider Gaim's finale in September 2014, Kamen Rider Drive took its place in the lineup.
