Touken Ranbu Yamatonokami Yasusada - Son of Okita Soji, Brother of Kashu Kiyomitsu
Yamatonokami Yasusada is a major character in online web browser game Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru. In Touken Ranbu, players assume the role of a Saniwa sage who travels into the past to defeat evil forces that are trying to change the course of history. Sages have the ability to bring famous historical swords to life as touken danshi, the swords' anthropomorphized forms. Yamatonokami is known for being a difficult-to-handle but effective sword who was once owned by Okita Soji. Another touken danshi named Kashi Kiyomitsu was also once owned by Okita Soji, giving them a brotherly bond from the beginning of the game. Yamatonokami has a strong personality but he makes it known that he has a soft spot in his heart for Okita Soji.

Touken Ranbu (which translates to "wild dance of swords") is a free-to-play online collectible card video game released by DMM and Nitroplus in January 2015. In the game, players assume the role of a Saniwa sage who travels back in time to defeat evil forces that are trying to change the course of history. As a sage, you have the ability to animate famous historical swords, which are anthropomorphized as attractive young men. Your duty is to bring these blades to life, create an army and defeat the enemies! The video game has received two anime adaptations, Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru by Doga Kobo in 2016 and Katsugeki/Touken Ranbu by Ufotable in 2017. Touken Ranbu Pocket, the smartphone app version of the game for Apple iOS and Android, became available in March 2016.
Yamatonokami was named after the swordsmith he was forged by in the year 1655. He later came under the possession of Okita Soji. In the game, Yamatonokami has a very fond view of Okita Soji and seems to want to reunite with him. Yamatonokami arrives at the citadel in the first month of the year. He becomes fast friends with another former sword of Okita Soji named Kashu Kiyomitsu. Yamatonokami accompanies Kashu as he tours newcomers Tsurumaru Kuninaga and Dodanuki Masakuni around the citadel. Yamatonokami and Kashu as a pair are often referred to as Okitagumi (which roughly translates to "Okita team/group") due to their primary connection being former swords of Okita Soji. They are the only two Touken Ranbu swords that are Okitagumi.
