About Figures Anastasia

THE iDOLM@STER Anastasia - The Half-Russian Star

Anastasia is a character from a Japanese arcade game by 765 Production called The Idolmaster (stylized as THE iDOLM@STER and abbreviated as IMAS or IM@S). Anastasia is half-Russian (on her father's side) and half-Japanese (on her mother's side). She's proficient in both Russian and Japanese but she tends to use simple Russian phrases followed by a Japanese translation. She originally lived in Russia and her Russian name is Анастасия, but she prefers to be called Anya. Her biggest hobby is astronomy and stargazing and she dreams of one day discovering an asteroid. Due to her interests and background, Anastasia's stage costumes and idol image are heavily influenced by stars and snow. She's voiced by Sumire Uesaka.

The Idolmaster (stylized as THE iDOLM@STER, and abbreviated as IMAS or IM@S) debuted in arcades across Japan as a raising simulation and rhythm video game by Bandai Namco Entertainment in 2005. The original arcade version of Idolmaster primarily centers around the career of a producer who works with a group of prospective idols at the talent agency 756 Production (or 756 Pro). A recurring theme in the series emphasizes the struggles an idol must go through to achieve stardom. The franchise has since grown into numerous sequels and spin-offs across multiple game consoles, including three social network games. The series has also produced a variety of other media such as anime DVDs, soundtrack CDs, manga and other print media, audio dramas, radio shows and a Korean drama. This vast range of works has culminated into the multimedia development project known as Project iM@S, with official releases in Japanese, Korean, Chinese and English.

While the concept of idols was foreign to her, Anastasia decided to become one because it sparked her interest. She often feels lonely and homesick for Russia, but the other idols always help her overcome this. She is a bit naive and the other idols have also exposed her to strange and interesting things that she otherwise would have never known about. In the anime, she is shown living in a dorm with Ranko Kanzaki, Koume Shirasaka, and Syoko Hoshi. Anastasia was the only member of the top five unit of the 2nd Cinderella Girls Election to not have a voice actor. At that time, she had not even received a S Rare card. In Starlight Stage, her image stat specialty is Visual. She shares the same birthday as Cathy Graham.
