About Phone Straps Mami Tomoe

Mami Tomoe - magical girl mentor

Mami Tomoe is one of the main characters of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, often abbreviated to Madoka Magica, a 2011 Japanese anime TV series produced by Shaft and Aniplex Studios. Madoka Magica was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed, spawning a spin-off manga series, a novelization, video game adaptations, and a multi-film movie franchise. Written by Gen Urobochi, the story follows a group of middle school students who sign a contract to become magical girls who battle enemies known as witches. Mami first appears in the series as a magical girl alongside Kyubey and offers to teach Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki the ropes of becoming a magical girl.

Mami Tomoe is one of the main characters of Puella Magi Madoka Magica, who acts as a mentor to Madoka and Sayaka during the first arc of the story. Mami is a kind and cheerful girl, however, she is uncharacteristically curt around fellow veteran magical girl Homura Akemi. She becomes a magical girl after her parents are both killed in a car accident and making a contract with Kyubey to save her own life.

In the timeline of the series, Mami meets her untimely death after she is killed by a witch known as Charlotte. Prior to this, Madoka promises to become her magical girl partner but is deterred from signing the contract with Kyubey after she witnesses the violent death of Mami at the hands of a witch. Mami has curly hair pinned back into twin tails, with character Ume Aoki noting that her floral hairpins give her the aura of a "big sister".

Mami is the main protagonist of the spin-off manga, Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Different Story, where she fights alongside Kyoko Sakura. Mami also appears in the third Madoka Magica theatrical film, Rebellion, as well as many of drama CDs based in the Madoka Magica Universe.
