Fate/EXTRA - a reimagining of the Fate universe

Fate/EXTRA is a 2010 PlayStation Portable game in the Fate franchise, produced by Type-Moon and Image Epoch and published by Marvelous. As FateEXTRA is a dungeon crawl style role-playing game, the videogame is a departure from the visual novel-style of games typical of the Fate series. Fate/Extra was followed up by two companion games, Fate/Extra CCC and Fate/EXTELLA. Many fan favorites return in Fate/EXTRA including Saber (Altria Pendragon) and Rin Tohsaka.

Fate/EXTRA is a 2010 PlayStation Portable game in the Fate franchise, produced by Type-Moon and Image Epoch and published by Marvelous. The game is a single-player RPG in the dungeon subgenre. During battles, the player takes the role of Master, who can summon and control characters known as "Servants" in order to defeat opponents. In the "Academy" area of the game, the storyline of Fate/EXTRA developments.

Many of the characters from Fate/EXTRA either originally appeared in Fate/stay night, or are alternate versions of their Fate/stay night counterparts. Fan favorites from the original visual novel such as Saber (Altria Pendragon), Rin Tohsaka, Shinji Matou make an appearance in Fate/EXTRA. Several new characters in the Fate world were introduced in Fate/EXTRA, including Nero, Tamamo-no-Mae, and Cu Chulainn.

A PlayStation Portable version of a Fate game was first announced in the September 2009 issue of Famitsu. Type-Moon teamed up with Marvelous and Image Epoch to create a game that was a re-imagining of the iconic visual novel series. Kinoko Nasu, who wrote Fate/stay night, served as head writer for Fate/EXTRA.
