Fate/Apocrypha is a light novel by Yuuichirou Higashide, set in a parallel world to the Fate/stay night universe. In the version of reality, the Greater Grail was stolen from the town of Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War. Years later, the group that took the Grail, the Yggdmillennia, usurp the rule of the Mage's Association, with Lancer the Black slaughtering all but one of the members of the association. This surviving mage summons fourteen Servants in order to retrieve the Greater Grail and restore peace to the lands.

Sieg, a Homunculus created by Gordes Musick Yggdmillennia is the main protagonist of the Fate/Apocrypha series. He was saved from Yggdmillennia by Ruler, Rider of Black, and Saber of Black, the latter of which sacrificed himself so that Sieg would live longer than the normal three-year life span of the homunculi. Sieg fights alongside Ruler, whose true name is Jeanne d'Arc to defeat the evil and suffering caused by Yggdmillennia's rule.

The Fate/Apocrypha light novels were incredibly popular, spawning an anime and manga adaptation. An online MMO was originally planned for Fate/Apocrypha, however, this idea was later rebooted as Fate/Grand Order.
