Number (N)ine was founded by Japanese designer Takahiro Miyashita, who began by working in street style in Tokyo's famous Harajuku district.

　　The menswear label name was inspired by the Beatle's “Revolution #9”; Takahiro is influenced by a combination of rock, cowboy and gothic aesthetics.

　　His designs are characterized by conscious layering of many American elements such as distressed leather, suede and cardigans over plaid flannel shirts and jeans.
