About Bags Monogram Denim

Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim - a playful meeting of fashion icons

The Louis Vuitton Monogram Denim line was first launched in 2005 - combining the classic LV Monogram design with stonewashed denim for a playful and innovative take on these two icons of 20th century fashion. As well as the quintessential denim blue, the Monogram Denim line was available in additional colors. However, the Lichen, Fuchsia and Noir colorways have been discontinued, leaving only blue. 2007 saw the release of Monogram Denim Raye, patchwork designs developed as a collaboration between Marc Jacobs and famous British stylist and designer Judy Blame.

The juxtaposition between the iconic LV Monogram pattern and stonewashed denim is the key to the Monogram Denim series. This high-low combination works just as well with formal outfits as with more casual looks, making the line highly versatile. In addition to bags, Louis Vuitton also offers Monogram Denim scarves and other accessories, making this collection an easy way to add LV luxury to your wardrobe beyond handbags.

The specific price of Monogram Denim items vary depending on the model, but is generally in the 100,000 to 200,000 yen range. The line has also featured multiple limited-edition items, which tend to accrue in value over time. As such, if you're after a discontinued item, time is of the essence - the price is likely to only rise. Second-hand items in good condition often fetch 50,000 to 100,000 yen, almost as high as the retail value for certain Louis Vuitton designs.

The more casual appeal of the Monogram Denim line has proved a particular hit with the younger generation of Louis Vuitton fans. Compared to the more classic look of the iconic brown-and-beige Monogram Canvas, Monogram Denim is easily incorporated into a range of looks, from casual to formal. The line clearly shows the luxury heritage of Louis Vuitton without being ostentatious or over-the-top about it - sometimes a rare trait in branded items. This combination of casual roots and top-level craftsmanship can be said to be a key draw of the Monogram Denim series.
